Thanks for sharing this creative and fun stop motion work. I like that it has a consistency story behind it. The rhythm is fluent and infectious. I appreciate that you use the sticky notes, which is the commonly used object in our daily life, but transform it into the canvas for stop motion. It full-fills the learning goal of this project, which is to utilize the limited material but create something enjoyable. It would be great if you can add some background music to it maybe.
ReplyDeleteUsing the post-it notes was a great idea! I haven't ever seen an animation done in this way with little building units coming together in a fixed frame and I think the result is super charming! It feels incredibly personal and your style of illustration fits so well with the format, which feels playful and also reminds me of some of my favorite illustrations that often accompany young adult chapter books from the 1960s-70s (Harriet the Spy, James and the Giant Peach, The House with the Clock in its Walls, Ramona Quimby, to name quite a few...) I think there would also be potential for using a post-it note, or paper squares, that are also white or match the color of your background. Although you might still get a few shadows, I think you could also create even more illusion and play by making the animation building blocks almost invisible if you were to keep exploring this format.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the idea of using sticky notes. The result is pretty amazing! I realize you are not showing the whole art piece. Although it is drawing a tree, in any of the frame it only contains one portion of the tree, and we never get to see the whole piece as you removed the sticky notes of other potions. I can see the potential in the way it is producing. Maybe by editing the drawing contains, you are able to show more active motions, for example, the growth of a tree.
